ARTICLE I: NAME
The organization shall be called the Asian Pacific Islander Staff Association (APISA).
ARTICLE II: MISSION
The mission of APISA is to provide support and build community among Asian Pacific Islander staff and faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College. This purpose shall be reflected in programmatic efforts to:
A. Assist the college in addressing the needs of API staff, faculty, and students through advocacy and policy recommendation
B. Encourage the recruitment, hiring, promotion, and retention of API at Santa Rosa Junior College
C. Strengthen professional and social networking between API staff and faculty on and off campus
D. Promote activities that result in a better understanding of diverse API identities, culture, and history
E. Offer leadership and other professional development resources for members
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be open to all staff and faculty who share and support the mission of this organization.
ARTICLE IV: EXECUTIVE BOARD
The APISA Executive Board shall consist of the following officers: the Co-Chairs, Secretary, and Treasurer.
All elected positions have a two-year term of office, the official term beginning October 1 and ending September 30. Elections take place in May, with transitional meetings between outgoing and incoming officers in September. Positions official begin on October 1.
Officers shall not remain in the same elected position for more than two (2) consecutive terms.
An APISA office is subject to removal upon failure to perform the functions of an officer and/or for violation of college policy. With the majority approval of the Executive Board, vacancies shall be filled by the Co-Chairs.
ARTICLE V: DUTIES OF OFFICERS
A. There will be two Co-Chairs, one a classified staff member and the other a faculty member. The Co-Chairs shall preside at all meetings, provide oversight and direction for projects and programs and serve as the official representative of the association.
B. The Secretary shall maintain the minutes and proceedings of all meetings and shall record all votes of the organization. Documentation shall be passed to the new officers at the end of term.
C. The Treasurer shall receive and deposit all funds, maintain the financial records, and keep proper account of funds. The treasurer shall chair the Fundraising committee. Financial records shall be turned over to the new officers at the end of the term.
ARTICLE VI: MEETINGS
APISA shall hold at least two open meetings in the fall and spring semesters. Special meetings maybe be called by the Co-Chairs when deemed necessary.
ARTICLE VIII: DUES
Annual dues are $25.00 to support the functions of the association.
IX: AMENDMENTS
The by-laws may be amended by a majority vote of the APISA membership. At least one meeting of APISA shall be devoted to a discussion of the by-laws.
